For the 2023-2024 season, we will continue with six monthly print competitions: October, November, January, February, March and April. Prints will be collected two weeks prior to the judging.
Due Dates: all prints must be submitted between 6:15 and 7:15pm at the club ON MONDAY TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO COMPETITION NIGHT, normally the last Monday of the month. See below for exact dates.
The Print Entry Form must be completed and submitted online by 6:00pm the same night prints are due.

COVID PROTOCOLS
For the upcoming 2023-2024 season, hand sanitizers will be available at the club. We will continue to use the ceiling UVC lights for disinfecting after each use of the club as well as having the air purifying system on 24/7.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON LICENSED IMAGES: We appreciate that many members are actively promoting their work and often seek alternative avenues including the sale or licensing of their work to commercial sources. All members must understand that the sale or licensing of their work to a stock agency or other commercial enterprise places restrictions on the use and display of that image. Greater Lynn Photographic Association does not wish to unknowingly display a licensed or otherwise restricted image on its web site or in any other manner that may violate the terms of the member's licensing or sale agreement with a third party. We therefore require that members refrain from entering any image that is licensed or otherwise restricted in any competitions. In the event that a member is successful in marketing an image that is already on the GLPA web site, we ask that you immediately notify the web team at webmaster@greaterlynnphoto.org and alert us to that fact so that the image can be taken down promptly.

Statement on Artificial Intelligence (AI) - Image Creation and Ownership
In all sections of competition, images must originate as photographs made by the entrant. They may not incorporate identifiable images produced by anyone else (for example: clip art, replacement skies, or stock images). Images created in whole or in part by image creation software (frequently called 'AI' or 'generative' images) are not allowed. Editing or alteration of images is permitted within the limits specified in the relevant section definitions that are available in the GLPA club rules document for digital and prints. Any person submitting or attempting to submit an image in violation of this rule for any Greater Lynn Photographic Assoc. competition, social media, event, or publication other than for editorial purposes, SHALL BE SUSPENDED FROM COMPETITION FOR A PERIOD OF 3 YEARS.

Greater Lynn holds monthly print competitions. Rules of Competition and deadlines for submission are all listed to the left. Feel free to ask questions of the Print Chairman, Larry Dunn, at the email address provided. Competing is an excellent way to improve your photographic skills. Listening to the judge’s comments on your prints and the prints of the other competitors gives you a better insight into improving your photography.

You will be given a supply of pre-printed labels to attach to your prints. On each label there is a place for your name, month of the competition, print class, print title and category of your print which should be placed on the back of the print mount in the upper left corner of the print. Labels will be available at the club on the first September meeting and throughout the year. They can be found in an envelope on the print closet wall. You will need 24 labels for the year – (take 3 sheets each total of 30 to have a few extra. You can also pick them up in print group night. You may also print your own from the template in the left side column. Please have the labels securely on your prints prior to bringing them in for submission.
Be sure to take advantage of attending the GLPA Print Group. Print Group meets on third Tuesday of the month. This is usually the Tuesday before the entry forms are due to allow attendees to make changes in prints they bring in for discussion should they want to enter them in the next month's competition. Print Group offers a wealth of information and non-judgmental critiques to those who attend these very informative meetings. Do bring some of your prints for discussion.
At the first Print Group night, Print Chairman Larry Dunn, MNEC, will shows ways to reuse mattes to help keep the cost of participating in the print competitions down.

Please remember this stipulation for competing. To help maintain the cumulative scoring for the year and to provide a way to report the scores on the club's website, you must use the Club's website to enter the print competition. We will only ask for your name, title and category. We are not asking to upload a digital image of your print. By using this online entry form – much like the one used for the digital competition – we can collect the data about each month's competition. All online entry form information MUST BE COMPLETED BY 6:00PM TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THE PRINT COMPETITION DATE AND SUBMITTED THE SAME NIGHT PRINTS ARE DUE. Click here to get to the Entry Form.
All prints must be submitted between 6:15 and 7:15pm at the club TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THE COMPETITION, normally the last Monday of the month. Late prints will not be accepted. Prints are delivered to the judge for their review and judging prior to the competition. Please see left side column for exact dates prints and online entry forms are due. Make sure the labels have been completed and are securely on the back of your prints prior to submission.
All Prints for the 2023 – 2024 season will once again need to be mounted or matted on a backing board but no frames allowed. Do not bring in flat straight from printer prints - you must mount or matte them.
Competing:
For the 2023-2024 season, we will have six monthly print competitions normally held on the second Monday of the month - October, November, January, February, March and April. There are two print classes- Class C and Masters. The Entry Form reflectes these two Class. Categories for the monthly competitions are Color, Black & White, and Theme. The Color and Black & White categories will be judged per class. The Theme Category is judged as a combined class. (Scores will count toward the competitor’s accumulated total in his or her class.) A maximum of three prints may be entered each month for the B&W and Color Categories. For the Theme Category, a maker may submit a fourth print for the Theme Category (Scores will count toward the competitor’s accumulated total in his or her class.). If a fourth print is submitted, only the top three scores for each month will count towards the Class standings and Annual Awards. Which categories you choose to enter is up to you.
Judging: Prints will be delivered to the judge so they can review, judge and score the prints prior to the actual print competition night. Print Drop off is the generally Monday two weeks prior to the Print Competition. This will allow for time to deliver the prints to the Judges. No late drop off prints will be accepted. It is always acceptable to drop prints off earlier than the drop off date, just let the Print Chairman know you will be dropping of prints early.
There will be a Daniel Charbonnet Memorial Photograph of the Year in Prints and in Projected Image. The winners in each section will receive an 9x12 plaque with the winning image reproduced.
Briefly some of the rules follow:
The maximum print allowable is 16” X 20”. All prints must be mounted on a backing board.
All print images must be exposed by the maker.
The larger size prints are easier to view and generally have more impact.
Once a print receives a ribbon, it may not be entered again in that class or in the projected image competition for that season.
The scores for all entries will be posted on the website each month. That way if you are unable to attend the competition night, you will have a place to get your scores.
Only prints receiving ribbons (all POM, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and two HM’s) are eligible for the final Annual “Print of the Year” competition held in May of the same season.
