Still Life Group

(available to members only)

The Still Life Group is open to any member of Greater Lynn interested in still life photography. Meetings will be scheduled monthly throughout the year on an evening other than Monday, normally on Tuesdays. Please check the schedule on the left side panel of this page for planned dates for the year. This group is open to all members, beginners to experienced photographers.

The 2015–2016 season was the first year of the Still Life Group. At our final session of last year, we discussed plans for this year and agreed that we would continue providing setups as well as critiquing images taken at our meetings and outside efforts. We will find one or two people who are successful with post processing for still life images to share their knowledge with the group.

A different person will provide the set up for each meeting. We aim to provide a varied group of subjects such as old hand tools; books; bread, wine, and cheese; and shoes. Suggestions and volunteers as the year progresses are welcome and encouraged. Try your hand and sharpen your skills at arranging tabletop creations. The club will provide lights and backgrounds on the meeting nights. A tripod and short telephoto lens is all that is needed. A cable release would be of help.

A modest amount of self-starting instruction on concept, subject matter, equipment, and composition will be provided with hopes that you will then be able to take what you have learned and apply it to your own setups at home.

Come down and join us for a fun, hands-on evening. Meet other GLPA members on a smaller scale and hopefully get some new images for competition.
